The Future Pilot

i'mafraidsoimafraidso的中文

Wang Wei was a handsome teenager who loved to dream about the future. He wanted to be a pilot and fly all over the world. He liked to watch planes take off and land at the airport near his home. He also liked to read magazines and books about aviation and travel.

One day, he saw an advertisement for a pilot training program at a nearby station. He decided to apply for it and see if he could make his dream come true. He filled out the application form and sent it with a letter explaining why he wanted to be a pilot.

A few weeks later, he received a reply from the program. They invited him to come for an interview and a test. He was so excited that he could not sleep that night. He told his parents and his best friend, Li Na, about the news.

Li Na was happy for him, but also a little sad. She was his classmate and neighbour since they were both little. They did everything together: they went to school, played games, watched films, and visited places. They also shared their dreams and secrets. Li Na wanted to be a singer and save the world with her music.

She knew that if Wang Wei became a pilot, he would have to leave their hometown and travel far away. She wondered if they would still be friends then. She did not want to lose him, but she also did not want to stop him from pursuing his dream.

The day of the interview came. Wang Wei put on his favourite hat and coat and took the bus to the station. He arrived an hour early and waited nervously in the hall. There were many other applicants there, some older and some younger than him. They all looked confident and prepared.

Wang Wei felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Li Na standing behind him. She was holding an umbrella and a bag.

"Li Na! What are you doing here?" he asked in surprise.

"I came to support you, of course!" she said with a smile. "I brought you some snacks and water. And this." She handed him a small box wrapped in paper.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Open it and see," she said.

He opened the box and found a keychain with a metal plane on it. It was shiny and new.

"It's a present for you," she said. "I hope it will bring you luck."

"Thank you so much, Li Na," he said, touched by her gesture. "You are the best friend ever."

He hugged her and put the keychain in his pocket.

"Come on, let's go inside," she said. "They are calling your name."

They walked into the interview room together. There were three people sitting at a table: two men and a woman. They looked serious and professional.

"Hello, I'm Wang Wei," he said politely.

"Hello, Wang Wei," the woman said. "We are the interviewers for the pilot training program. I'm Ms Chen, this is Mr Wang, and this is Mr Li."

She pointed to the two men next to her.

"Please take a seat," Mr Wang said.

Wang Wei sat down on a chair in front of them. Li Na stood beside him.

"Who is she?" Mr Li asked.

"She's my friend, Li Na," Wang Wei said.

"Is she also applying for the program?" Mr Li asked.

"No, she's just here to support me," Wang Wei said.

"I see," Mr Li said. "Well, we don't mind if she stays, as long as she doesn't interfere with the interview."

"Thank you," Wang Wei said.

"OK, let's begin," Ms Chen said. "We have some questions for you."

She picked up a paper from the table and read it aloud.

"Why do you want to be a pilot?" she asked.

Wang Wei thought for a moment and then answered.

"I want to be a pilot because I love flying and exploring new places. I think flying is an amazing invention that can change the world for the better. I want to see different cultures and learn from them. I also want to help people who need transportation or assistance in remote areas."

"That's a good answer," Ms Chen said. "What do you know about piloting?"

Wang Wei told them what he had learned from his magazines and books. He talked about the basic principles of aerodynamics, navigation, communication, weather, safety, and emergency procedures.

He also mentioned some famous pilots and their achievements, such as Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, Liu Yang, and Yang Liwei.

"You seem well-informed",said Ms Chen.

Wang Wei impressed the interviewers with his knowledge and enthusiasm. They nodded and smiled as he spoke.

"Very good, Wang Wei," Mr Wang said. "You have done your homework well. Now we have a test for you."

He handed him a paper with some questions and problems on it.

"This is a test of your logical thinking and problem-solving skills. You have 15 minutes to complete it. You can use a pen and paper, but no calculator or phone. Good luck."

Wang Wei took the paper and looked at it. It had some math, physics, and geography questions on it. He felt confident that he could solve them.

He started to work on the test, writing down his answers and calculations. Li Na watched him quietly, hoping that he would do well.

The time passed quickly. Wang Wei finished the test and checked his answers. He felt satisfied with his work.

"Time's up," Mr Li said. "Please hand in your paper."

Wang Wei gave his paper to Mr Li, who scanned it briefly.

"Thank you, Wang Wei," he said. "We will review your test and let you know the result soon."

"Thank you for the opportunity," Wang Wei said.

He got up from his chair and walked out of the room with Li Na.

They went to a nearby park and sat on a bench. They ate the snacks that Li Na had brought and talked about the interview.

"How do you think you did?" Li Na asked.

"I think I did OK," Wang Wei said. "The questions were not too hard, but not too easy either. I hope I answered them correctly."

"I'm sure you did," Li Na said. "You are smart and hardworking. You deserve to be a pilot."

"Thank you, Li Na," Wang Wei said. "You are very kind and supportive. You deserve to be a singer."

They smiled at each other and held hands.

They stayed in the park for a while, enjoying the sunshine and the breeze. They watched the birds fly in the sky and the butterflies flutter in the flowers.

They also talked about their dreams and plans for the future.

"If I become a pilot, I will take you to see the world with me," Wang Wei said.

"Really?" Li Na asked.

"Of course," Wang Wei said. "You are my best friend. I want to share everything with you."

"That sounds wonderful," Li Na said. "But what if I become a singer? Will you still come to see me perform?"

"Definitely," Wang Wei said. "You are my favourite singer. I want to hear your voice every day."

They laughed and hugged each other.

They felt happy and hopeful for their future.

They did not know that their future would be different from what they expected.

A few days later, Wang Wei received a phone call from the pilot training program.

He answered it eagerly, hoping to hear good news.

"Hello, is this Wang Wei?" a voice asked.

"Yes, this is Wang Wei," he said.

"Hello, Wang Wei, this is Ms Chen from the pilot training program. I'm calling to inform you of your result."

"Yes, please tell me," he said anxiously.

"I'm sorry to say that you did not pass the test," she said.

"What?" he exclaimed in disbelief.

"I'm afraid so," she said. "Your answers were correct, but not fast enough. You took too long to finish the test. We need pilots who can think quickly and react swiftly in any situation."

"But I tried my best," he said.

"I know, Wang Wei, and we appreciate your effort. But we have very high standards for our pilots. We can only accept the best of the best."

She paused for a moment and then continued.

"However, we do have another option for you."

"What is it?" he asked hopefully.

"We have an opening for a cook in our cafeteria. You can apply for that if you are interested."

"A cook?" he repeated in confusion.

"Yes, a cook," she said. "We need someone who can prepare meals for our staff and students. It's not as glamorous as being a pilot, but it's still an important job."

She waited for his response.

Wang Wei felt a surge of disappointment and anger. He could not believe what he was hearing.

He wanted to be a pilot, not a cook!

He wanted to fly in the sky, not stay on the ground!

He wanted to see the world, not serve food!

He felt like his dream had been crushed by a giant wall.

He wanted to say no, but he also did not want to give up his dream, but he also did not want to waste his chance. He knew that being a cook was better than having no job at all. He also knew that he could still learn something from working at the station. Maybe he could make some connections and find another way to become a pilot.

He decided to accept the offer and apply for the cook position.

"OK, I'll do it," he said.

"Great," Ms Chen said. "We're glad to have you on board. Please come to the station tomorrow and bring your resume and ID. We'll show you around and give you some training."

"Thank you," he said.

He hung up the phone and sighed.

He felt a mix of emotions: relief, regret, hope, and fear.

He wondered if he had made the right decision.

He called Li Na and told her what had happened.

She was shocked and sad for him.

"Oh, Wang Wei, I'm so sorry," she said. "That's not fair. You worked so hard for your dream."

"It's OK, Li Na," he said. "It's not the end of the world. I still have a job and a chance to learn something new."

"But you don't want to be a cook," she said.

"No, I don't," he said. "But maybe I can be something else later. Maybe I can still be a pilot someday."

He tried to sound optimistic, but he did not feel it.

He felt like he had lost his direction and purpose.

He felt like he had betrayed his dream.

He felt like he had let himself and Li Na down.

He did not know what to do next.

He wished he could turn back time and change his fate.

But he knew that was impossible.

He had to face his reality and make the best of it.

He had to find a new way to achieve his dream.

Or maybe he had to find a new dream.

The next day, he went to the station and met Ms Chen. She welcomed him warmly and introduced him to the other staff and students. They were friendly and curious about him. They asked him questions about his background and interests. They also told him about their own stories and goals.

Wang Wei learned that they came from different places and backgrounds. Some were rich and some were poor. Some were young and some were old. Some were experienced and some were beginners. But they all had one thing in common: they wanted to be pilots.

They wanted to fly in the sky and explore new places. They wanted to see different cultures and learn from them. They wanted to help people who needed transportation or assistance in remote areas.

They wanted to do what Wang Wei wanted to do.

Wang Wei felt a pang of envy and sadness. He wished he could join them in their journey. He wished he could be one of them.

But he also felt a spark of admiration and respect. He admired their passion and determination. He respected their courage and perseverance.

They inspired him to keep his dream alive.

He decided to befriend them and learn from them. He decided to help them with their studies and problems. He decided to support them with his skills and knowledge.

He decided to be a good cook and a good friend.

He hoped that they would accept him as one of them.

He hoped that they would help him find his way back to his dream.

Or maybe they would help him find a new dream.

He started his training as a cook under the guidance of Mr Zhang, the head chef of the cafeteria. Mr Zhang was an old man who had been working at the station for over 20 years. He was strict but kind, demanding but fair, serious but humorous.

He taught Wang Wei everything he knew about cooking: how to choose ingredients, how to prepare dishes, how to use tools, how to follow recipes, how to create menus, and so on.

Wang Wei learned a lot from Mr Zhang and became a good cook. He enjoyed cooking and serving food for the staff and students. He also enjoyed talking and joking with them. He made many friends and earned their trust and respect.

He also kept in touch with Li Na, who was busy with her own dream. She had joined a music club at school and started to perform at various events. She had also recorded some songs and uploaded them online. She had gained some fans and followers who liked her voice and style.

She was happy and proud of her progress. She was also happy and proud of Wang Wei's progress.

They supported each other and encouraged each other. They shared their joys and sorrows, their successes and failures, their hopes and fears.

They remained best friends and more.

They did not know that their future would be different from what they expected.

A few months later, Wang Wei received a letter from the pilot training program.

He opened it eagerly, hoping to hear good news.

He read it quickly and gasped.

It was an invitation to join the program as a pilot trainee.

He could not believe his eyes.

He read it again and again, making sure he was not dreaming.

It was real.

He had been accepted into the program.

He had been given a second chance to pursue his dream.

He had been given a chance to fly in the sky and explore new places.

He had been given a chance to be a pilot.

He felt a surge of joy and excitement. He could not wait to tell Li Na and Mr Zhang about the news.

He ran to the cafeteria and found Mr Zhang in the kitchen. He showed him the letter and told him what had happened.

Mr Zhang was surprised and happy for him.

"Wow, Wang Wei, that's amazing!" he said. "How did you do it?"

"I don't know," Wang Wei said. "I guess they saw something in me that they liked. Maybe they saw my passion and potential. Maybe they saw my improvement and effort. Maybe they saw my friendship and loyalty."

"Maybe they saw all of that," Mr Zhang said. "You are a good cook, but you are also a good person. You have worked hard and helped others. You have shown your character and spirit. You deserve this opportunity."

"Thank you, Mr Zhang," Wang Wei said. "You have taught me so much. You have been like a father to me."

Mr Zhang smiled and hugged him.

"I'm proud of you, Wang Wei," he said. "You are like a son to me."

They both felt emotional and grateful for each other.

They also felt sad and reluctant to part ways.

They knew that Wang Wei would have to leave soon to start his training.

They knew that they would miss each other a lot.

But they also knew that they would always remember each other fondly.

They wished each other good luck and happiness.

Wang Wei then ran to Li Na's house and knocked on her door. She opened it and saw him holding the letter in his hand. She recognized it immediately and gasped.

"Wang Wei, is that what I think it is?" she asked in disbelief.

"Yes, Li Na, it is," he said with a smile. "I've been accepted into the pilot training program. I'm going to be a pilot!"

He hugged her.

She hugged him back

Li Na was overjoyed and proud of Wang Wei. She congratulated him and told him how happy she was for him.

They decided to spend as much time as possible together before Wang Wei had to leave. They went to their favourite places and did their favourite things. They also went to new places and tried new things. They made many memories and took many photos.

They also talked about their dreams and plans for the future.
